[SOLVED] VirtualBox: is it possible to install a Windows XP guest on a USB pen?

Hello!

I have a netbook with SSD disk, running Slackware 13.
I need to use Windows, and i would like to install it on a USB flash pen (to save the space and the life of my SSD disk).
If i install VirtualBox in my slackware, will i be able to install a virtual Windows XP residing on USB flash pen?

(note: Windows installation CD normally doesn't allow to install on USB devices, but maybe running inside VirtualBox it will work..?

AIUI VirtualBox can be configured to use a file, a partition or an entire HDD to use to store data which it presents to the virtual machine as an HDD. The last two are described in the User Manual as "experimental" so the safest choice is to use file(s). Presumably a file can be on any writeable medium so there should be no reason why it cannot be on a USB (except it will be slower than on an HDD?).

Whatever you use, it will appear in the virtual machine as an HDD so Windows will install to it as it would to any HDD.

please note pen drives ware out just like SSDs.
