my problem is that it's not getting IP address.

here is output from ifconfig eth0:
Code:
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr my:hw:address
          inet6 addr: fe80::20c:29ff:fe70:c356/64 Scope Link
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:403 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:29 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:45736 (44.6 Kb) TX bytes:8334 (8.1 Kb)
          Interrupt:19 Base address:0x2024
my Virtual Machine Settings:
i tried both Bridged: Connected directly to the physical network as well as NAT.

output of ifcfg-eth0:
Code:
cat /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0
BOOTPROTO='dhcp4'
STARTMODE='auto'

why the eth0 doesn't get IP address ?
please help

Hi newbie0101,

Make a backup of your /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 file and then do the following changes:

Code:
BOOTPROTO='dhcp'
IPADDR=''
NETWORK=''
STARTMODE='auto'
USERCTL='no
Change your adapter setting to bridge and reboot the system and see if it works.

thanks T3RM1NVT0R for help, but it doesn't work for me.
it's still the same, btw i disabled network-remotefs and i am using network manager + is it ok that in output of ifconfig eth0 is line:
Code:
inet6 addr: fe80::20c:29ff:fe70:c356/64 Scope Link
isnt' it trying to use IPv6 ?
take a look at:
Code:
dmesg | grep eth0
eth0: no iPv6 routers present
Code:
dmesg | grep -i network
ifup[558]: Service network not started and mode 'auto' -> skipping
