Hello again paco_espinola,
Your question has made me curious so I decided to give the Samba client a try on my system. For reference, here is a good summary of the smbclient syntax:
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/SMB-HOWTO-8.html
First of all you need to be able to connect to a share on your Windows machine. Can you test from another Windows machine? If not, here are a couple of things to check (at least no Win XP)
1 - Open explorer, and select Tools; Folder Options; View. At the very bottom of the list uncheck [ ] Use simple file sharing and Apply. I often forget this one.
2 - Create a shared folder on your Windows machine.
3 - If you still cannot connect to the shared folder from another machine see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040
Once you can connect to the shared folder from a Windows machine you can connect with smbclient. Open a command window in your Linux virtual machine and type "smbclient -L machinename" where machine name is the name of your Windows machine. You will be prompted for your Windows password. Here is an example where my Windows machine is named taylor11
Quote:
ken@taylor12:~$ smbclient -L taylor11
Enter ken's password:
Domain=[TAYLOR11] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]
Sharename Type Comment
--------- ---- -------
IPC$ IPC Remote IPC
D$ Disk Default share

ADMIN$ Disk Remote Admin
C$ Disk Default share
Domain=[TAYLOR11] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]

The key thing I am looking for here is the line
which tells me there is a share called "work". Here is how I connect to the share
Quote:
ken@taylor12:~$ smbclient \\\\taylor11\\work
Enter ken's password:
Domain=[TAYLOR11] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]
smb: \>

and get a directory listing
Quote:
smb: \> ls

You can now use standard ftp syntax to put and get files to/from your Windows share.
