How do I used mapped raw LUN in Linux?

Hi folks,

I have a virtual server running RHEL 6.2 in a vmware environment. I've attached a new mapped Raw LUN to this server in vcenter. How should I proceed in operating system level to detect the new disk volume in order to partition it? I've rebooted the server but can not see antyhing useful under /dev.
Thanks in advance for your support.

You should see the disk in fdisk -l. If not, try the following:

echo '- - -' > /sys/class/scsi_host/host#/scan

Then when you do fdisk, you will see your drive available at which point you can partition it and make a file system on it.
