Post your LUG Events on the LQ Calendar

You can now post your LUG events on the LinuxQuestions.org calendar. This is a great free way to get more exposure for your LUG. Don't forget to mention LQ while at your LUG meetings.

I find this very good idea, an important step towards an objective and comprehensive attempt to unify efforts in order to achieve common goals in Linux (freedom of speech, that is!). If you want to let other people help you and help others too, you have to publicize what you are doing! righ?

I would like to know if these reunions are going in some way be dynamically categorized in the calendar by subjects of interest too (like with topics such as programming, hardware, security, etc... in fact all those that have already been brought by LQ, but also any other issue that be brought to the talks like specific developmment issues ex: developping a complex Arquitectural software project )... i mean anything that would be sustained during an amount of time and could be seen easily by anyone from outside these LUG that just wanted to share ideas.

I dont want to sound snobish or something , but i think that is how enterprises that are well known today got so efficient, they meet and discuss, project, rethink things dynamically, that happens already in linux community, but LQ is like a kernel to me : important things happen here and hopefully more important are to come.

The calendar is just a place to post LUG events - so if your lug wants to advertise the fact that they are having, say, a programming evening or a talk by someone, create an entry in the calendar. Since the various lugs will have different events at different times it wouldn't really be practical to place categories in the calendar - we'd end up with a number of empty sections :)

With the number of members we have and the fact that they are all worldwide, this is simply a way for them all to advertise in one place.

If you are interested in the political aspects of Linux, I would suggest you contact the Free Software Foundation as that is more their thing. LQ is a help and information site, rather than an activist site.

I think this is a great idea, I just added the Waco Linux User Group on it. I bet there has to be several members on here from this area. Now we just have to get more people to view the calander ;)

Weekly Wednesday Linux Workshop

How do I post a recurring event? HLUG (Houston, TX, USA) has a weekly workshop at HAL-PC (Houston Area League of PC Users). I won't clutter this post w/ all the details, I would appreciate a way to have it listed every week w/o having to re-post.

Tnx.

At this time there is no way to post a recurring event.

Would you consider adding it?

Recurring events and ranged events will be added in the future.

Wonderful ! Thanks.

Roughly how soon?

How often should I check back?

Will there be a posting here or in another thread that I could subscribe to?

jeremy 07-15-2005 06:44 PM

It will be included in the next major code upgrade. There is no ETA at this time.

Is there any support for iCal? Someone at AJUG (Atlanta) created a public google calendar. Here is the email from the mailing list: http://www.ajug.org/pipermail/ajug-m...il/001970.html.

jeremy 06-16-2006 07:10 PM

We don't support iCal at this time, but it is something I'd expect we'll eventually support.
