I've just installed ZSNES and Visual Boy Advance from apt testing.

Both programs are doing proper video, but sound is not working

ZSNES message:

Sound init failed!
freq: 44100, channels: 2, samples: 1024

VBA message:

Failed to open audio: No available audio device

I'm using ALSA. Here what KDE's info centre gives more Sound:

I don't like the sound of ALSA emulation... but I don't know much about ALSA. I don't even think I have it installed, cause I don't have also-base installed from apt. Any help, or ideas on how to fix my sound problems?

I just had this problem. Just go to the control panel and disable 'New Window' in the System Notifications under Sound and Multimedia. That solved my problem. It made a noise, then tried to play sound at pretty much the same time and freaked out. Good luck!
