zsh completion and square brackets

Is there any way to make zsh work with square brackets the same way as bash does, i.e. autoescape them. For example, if I have file [1].txt, I want "cat [<tab>" to be expanded into "cat \[1\].txt", but not into "cat [!", "cat [ARGC" etc.
