Zoneminder won't stream live video.

This is my first time installing zoneminder, just downloaded the latest version and trying it on my slackware 12 box. I tested the card I ordered with xawtv and was able to see video just fine.

Zoneminder seems to start fine but I can't get it to stream video.

That's what I get when I try to view. I'm not sure if there is a log file I can check to see if there is an error.

Have a look at this post to see if you can find your answer in there....

Thanks, it sounded very similar to my problem but didn't really help me.

I've noticed that zoneminder is using the cameras I have hooked up. It will let you download video clips it records when it detect motion and it will let you see the still images it saves out. So I know that side of zoneminder is working fine. I just tried to change the stream format with no luck. Whatever zoneminder is using as a stream engine seems to not be working. No errors in the logs at all. I'm just like that guy in that other forum and still at a loss.

Thanks for the help.

I messed around with that system at lunch and found that the error log line was missing from the httpd.conf file. I set it up with one and the only error it displays when I try to access the camera is this.

[Wed Jan 27 12:38:14 2010] [error] [client 68.189.170.198] array (\n 0 => \n array (\n 'file' => '/home/web/<mysite>/zm/ajax/stream.php',\n 'line' => 55,\n 'function' => 'ajaxError',\n 'args' => \n array (\n 0 => 'socket_sendto( /tmp/zms-658636s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory',\n ),\n ),\n 1 => \n array (\n 'file' => '/home/web/<mysite>/zm/index.php',\n 'line' => 116,\n 'args' => \n array (\n 0 => '/home/web/<mysite>/zm/ajax/stream.php',\n ),\n 'function' => 'require_once',\n ),\n),

Of course I replaced my actual url with <mysite>.

I changed the permissions on that tmp folder and noticed that zm can create a log file there but there's never any zms-whatever.sock file created.

Had a little more time today to play with this, found this error.

Hi,

did you resolved this issue?
I got the same after system upgrade. (Very exactly the same I think)

Before streming worked fine, now I have the same symtomps and Errors in the Logfiles like your system.

Hope you got an solution here.

Cheers
Marc

Same Issue (Any Resolution?)

I have the same issue after an update was applied (not sure which package is the culprit, but no updates to zm itself were made).

The error is the same and I've tried a few different suggested solutions I found around. Changed the php.ini file for the Short.??? to On and something else.

What confuses me is that I have it configured to use Cambozola but in the zm streaming page that comes up the cambozola.jar file is not referenced anywhere in the html code. I have my on page where I integrate the monitors into other content, and that page streams perfectly fine using references to cabozola.jar.

I am on zoneminder 1.24.4 and Fedora 16 (64 bit).

My most recent yum updates were:
41 | update dovecot | 2013-07-13 16:52 | Update | 1
40 | update *sendmail* | 2013-07-13 16:51 | Update | 2
39 | update apache* | 2013-07-13 16:51 | Update | 2
38 | install zlib-devel | 2013-06-23 15:11 | Update | 2
37 | install nasm | 2013-06-23 15:11 | Install | 1
36 | install make | 2013-06-23 15:10 | Update | 1
35 | install git | 2013-06-23 15:09 | Update | 2
34 | install automake | 2013-06-23 15:08 | Update | 1
33 | install mencoder | 2013-06-23 10:39 | Install | 17
32 | localinstall --nogpgchec | 2013-06-23 10:37 | Install | 2
31 | install foremost | 2013-01-26 21:12 | Install | 1
30 | install testdisk | 2013-01-26 10:31 | Install | 2

Based on this list, I assume the issue must be with the apache update. Nothing else should be related. I try to avoid updates for this reason, but finally decided I needed to keep my main services updated for safety. Seems that I was right to leave it alone...

--- Update ---
I went ahead and tried a 'yum history undo 39', but after restarting httpd and zm, still the same problem...
It modified:
Installing : 2:apache-commons-discovery-0.4-6.fc15.noarch
Installing : apache-commons-net-2.2-2.fc15.noarch
Cleanup : 2:apache-commons-discovery-0.4-7.fc16.noarch
Cleanup : apache-commons-net-2.2-3.fc16.noarch
