Yum update problem... Missing dependecies?
I'm having a problem when I try to update my CentOS 4.4 server.
Yeah, I added the KDE repos a while ago to get version 3.5.
I see this after running yum update:
--> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait.
---> Package kdelibs.i386 6:3.5.5-1.4.el4 set to be updated
---> Package kdelibs-devel.i386 6:3.5.5-1.4.el4 set to be updated
---> Package sip-devel.i386 0:4.5.2-0.2.el4.kde set to be updated
---> Package sip.i386 0:4.5.2-0.2.el4.kde set to be updated
---> Package jasper.i386 0:1.900.0-3.el4 set to be updated
--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: libjasper-1.701.so.1 for package: ImageMagick
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: libjasper-1.701.so.1 is needed by package ImageMagick
So I decided to search to see if I have that file:
[root@castor-srvr4 ~]# find / -name libjasper-1.701.so.1
So according to this, the file does exist. Any idea why it cannot find it?
The problem is that yum wants to update to jasper1.900.0-3, but ImageMagick seems to think it needs version 1.701
Tells you the problem, not the solution. Come across this myself occasionally and usually just exclude the offending update using --exclude=
First I tried to exclude ImageMagick but it still didn't work.
Then I tried to exclude jasper but it is required for kdelibs.
Then I tried to just install jasper (yum update jasper) and ImageMagick was still whining about that.
Might just leave it at that.
You probably need to exclude kdelibs - or uninstall ImageMagick
