yum update issue

I am using CENTOS 4.4 and I have been trying to perform a full system update using yum but it keeps hanging on seamonkey update for mozilla.

PHP Code:
yum update
I want to exclude certain packages from being updated. I know that I can edit the "etc/yum.conf" to do this. Does anybody the the sytax for doing so. thanks
