Yum Update Errors

1 Attachment(s)
hey guys, any help here is appreciated.

Was a bit behind on Yum Updates. (possibly 6 months or longer) and when running it today I got this error. (screenshot attached)

I ran package-cleanup direct from command prompt and it gave the following error :

-bash: package-cleanup: command not found

am I maybe doing this wrong ? or any other common way to fix php53-common conflict ?

thanks much

well you need to install yum-utils first, as your screenshot clearly advises you.

you're right, it doesn't seem to be installed. Is there a separate command for that ?

This is known issue at http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4852
You can take risk remove php-common package and install php53-common later on.
Note: it is not tested answer, you may want to test at staging environment.

Good Luck

how bout if I just hold off with the Yum Update until the next version of PHP is out. maybe it'll find the right package then ? that's the last thing I wanna do is screw up PHP.

alright guys, I installed utilities but it didnt find any problems when running

package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
package-cleanup --cleandupes

waddya guys think is the best route I should take now.

--skip-broken ?

and what would --skip-broken do ? i'm not exactly sure.

I really appreciate the help & advice. Really dunno what to do and don't wanna screw up PHP.

I usually take baby-steps when situations like this come up..

no upset mike,,

if you really need to run php5.3 there is not available from standard repository
what you have to do is install another repository
for your info rpmforge repo dont have that file

i suggest u use remi repo its easy,

have a visit to http://rpms.famillecollet.com/
download install to suite your system

then uses yum command with --enablerepo=remi, as said by novice06 please test at staging environment.
