Yum Different Respository Problem

Hi,

I read through "Repository Mixing Problems" in Fedora US Wiki page. I realize that as a user, we may have problem if we have more than one different respository. Ie: MPlayer may have a different package name "MPlayer" and "mplayer" which may cause Yum to think they are two different package.

Currently, anyone have any good workaround to minimize the impact of this problem? The wiki page mostly mention in order to minimize this problem, the package should be submitted to QA by developer for verification.

Thank you.

Bear in mind that they won't necessarily be identical packages, even if the software is the same product - it may be a different version, with different patches and/or compiled with different options. So other packages that depend on the correct version of the initial package could mess up.
