yum broke after installing python2.3.3 on FC2


yum broke after installing python2.3.3 on FC2.

# yum install gvim

It's a problem that is likely to happen when you're using an unsupported version of Fedora Core, since the updates are not tested against older versions.

Try upgrading to FC4, or, if you really like older versions, FC3 should be supported for another few months.

I use FC2 instead of upgrading to FC4 because if I have problems then other will encounter them and had the solution for them too.

O.K., but I think you're causing yourself problems running with an unsupported system.

Anyhow, I did have a similar problem (on FC3) which I solved by removing and re-installing yum. Since yum wasn't working, I used smart to do it. In fact, if smart works on FC2, you might prefer it to yum. (smart --gui even gives you a gui if you prefer that type of interface.)
