Smile your vmware tools are out of date....everything is new though!

I recently installed a copy of vmware 4 onto my WinXP host. I installed Mandrake 9.1 as a guest, and had some fun trying to install the tools. When I finally did manage to install them, at the bottom left of vmware, (where it tells you the tools are not installed) it told me something different. "Your vmware tools are out of date."
When I run vmware-toolbox & in a konsole it comes up with the control panel, but there are squat for option on it. In the user manual for vmware, it shows a fair amount of things to tweak.

I guess my question is, why would it say they are out of date already, and how do I get them updated?

Any and all help is VERY much appreciated!

Thanks all (muchas gracias!)
