Your favorite applications via apt-get?
I'm new to the world of Debian Linux, and I'm enjoying using apt-get and most recently Synaptic. I see tons of applications and I'd like to know which ones are the best before blindly downloading and installing programs that I may not like (or that I may not find useful) and end up removing.
My question is, what are your favorite applications that you've installed using apt-get? Examples are but not limited to: Video/audio players & converters, Image viewers/editors, CD data/audio burning apps, etc. I'm anxious to hear from you all! :) Please list your favorite applications and their purpose which you've found via apt-get. Your answers will be most useful to me, and hopefully to other users as well. Thanks for reading! :) |
Well, I use apt4rpm on Fedora, but here's my fav programs:
- Totem (Movie Player) - XMMS (Music Player) - TVTime (TV Viewer) - The GIMP (Image Editing) - Bluefish (HTML Editing) - K3B (CD Burning) - Audacity (Audio Editing) - GNU Cash (Money Management) - OpenOffice.org (Word processor, Spreadsheets, etc.) Hope you find those programs as useful as myself :D |
Thank you for your very helpful suggestions. I appreciate them as well as your quick reply! :) I look forward to more users posting their favorite programs as well.
