Yesh... so what.. i'm a n00b!

I am a little new to linux... and i'm suffering from the RPM Blues... i need some sort of a "c" compiler.... im using xandros... and when installing most things i get:

checking for style of include used by make... GNU
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.

where can i find one of these... it's like a needle in a haystack for me.

GCC will probably be on your installation disks under development/programming or something like that.

A little pre-defensive thread title there, don't sweat it.

GCC, that's the name of the package you'll need to install, figures that a desktop oriented distro like Xandros didn't install it by default as they would consider that a "developer" sort of thing to need. I don't know what package installer that well, but look for the one named gcc, and hopefully that'll install the dependencies, there'll be a few of them, depending on how they package things.

What're you trying to compile offhand?

Cheers,

Finegan
