that's weird, usually yahoo's linux version is great. have you tried to connect to yahoo using gaim?
gaim can connect to maximum chat clients try it
If you don't like Gaim, try Kopete.
use gaim it can connect all the protocols avaible :) that saves you some resource if you need to use more than one messenger
can any one tell me what this gaim actually is. I dont have any idea about that
gaim is a internet messenger just like icq and msn or yahoo but it can connect all the protocol. gaim.sourceforge.net
/usr/bin/gaim
man gaim rpm -q gaim -i You can get the instructions and informations. |
i tried gaim. i am actually using proxy to connect to internet. I loaded the yahoo plugin. but it is giving "could not connect to yahoo" error. wt could be the problem. is it because of proxy connection

this is the debug code I get
AOL and MSN connect alright. I have problems with Yahoo.
I used 'gaim -d' from a terminal window and captured this output: Code:
Loading /usr/lib/gaim/libmsn.so --- How do I uninstall the version of yahoo Messenger when I have the following packages. I already have 0.99.19-1.i386 install. How do I uninstall it? //rpm I have rh8.ymessenger-1.0.4-1.i386.rpm ymessenger-0.99.19-1.i386.rpm When upgrading the client, do the following: If you are upgrading your client from a previous version of Yahoo! Messenger, please remove the older version first before installing this version. In addition, due to changes in the base libraries, please rename the preferences file in the directory /.ymessenger from .ymessenger/preferences to .ymessenger/preferences.old The new client will automatically configure your setup. You will not lose any offline or archived messages in this process. |
