Question Yahoo Chat

I'm using Windows XP. I tried going to Yahoo chat using Firebird. It said I needed a Java plugin, and directed me to:

plugins.netscape.com/plug-in_finder.adp?mimetype=application/x-java-vm

I followed the instructions to get the plugin, but when I tried installing it I got an error message:

"Java 2 Runtime Environment
Error 1311. Source file not found. 142000.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."

I have also tried downloading "gaim" and "gyach". They both put a .tar file on my desktop, but winzip couldnt open it.

I am a complete Linux newbie, as you've probably guessed. Any suggestions??

I can't use Gnome or File roller in Windows XP can I?

I want to use Mozilla Firebird with Windows XP and go to Yahoo chat sites. When I try, it says I need a Java plug in, but I cant get it to install. I dont know how to open .tar files in Windows XP.

OK I got the Java VM, but when I try to install it, I get that error message again:

Java 2 Runtime Environment
Error 1311. Source file not found. 142000.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Mozilla sucks, and if I can't even go to Yahoo Chat with it, I'll be putting it the bin and trying Netscape.
