Post Xwindows graphic display error, multi screen areas copied

I use redhat 9.0.
This erratic error often occur, in both Gnome and KDE GUI.
The display windows area or picture or windows itself, would be multi- copied to some screen area.
Although the screen display error, the program still work well.
I can refresh the screen by change the desktop and change return.
And the screen saver can also refresh the dirty screen .
It make me feel inconvenient and disturbed.

many GUI program will product this error.
(xmms, mozilla, acrobat read, ...)

Is it the bug of Xfree86 and Xwindows?

Has someone meet this problem?
And who can tell me how to solve it?
