Anybody know of a good file converter in which i can convert my homemade movies from avi or xvid to mpeg or vice versa. Need a prog with options such as vcd, svcd, dvdr etc. Thanks...
Take a look at ffmpeg and vcdimager. There are also all-encompassing tools like dvd::rip that combine a bunch of utilities and include a GUI. I tried to download vcdimager with slapt-get yesterday and ran into a dependency conflict. Ended up having to install manually.
This link helped a lot http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Create_a_VCD_or_SVCD
Edit: Whoa, missed the 'vicea-versa' part of your question. Never tried that. I don't know if linking to another forum is appreciated here, but there's a bunch of video links in this thread http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/topic-49108.html
