xterm class

hello

I want that my xterm is starting with using DEL as DEL and using application cursor keys. cos now it doesnt (i get beeps when pressing END nad HOME etc...). I read in the Xterm manual that I should be able to set a class to be used for xterm at startup with the option -class classname.

I also edited the appropriate classes to have

*VT100*appcusor: on
*VT100*delete-is-del: on

included. but xterm still doesnt do what i want. what else can i try? is the stuff I need hidden in the terminfo database? if yes, how can i change the settings there?

thanks for your help
