Xscreensaver update

I wanna have some new screensaver, so I downloaded xscreensaver-4.15 from jwz webstie and then install it, but I don't find any new sreensaver in the list and it causes me not be able to run xscreensaver-demo from Terminal (not running in root)

(connection to "0:0" refused by serve)

what should I do now ? (Im using Redhat 9)

If that version is close to the one you are already running chances are , its a bug fix.

I would use rpm -qa | grep xscreensaver

and rpm -e --nodeps xscreensaver

then reinstall my original xscr.rpm file, and get the highest version you can find. there are several new screensavers in the xscreensaver package.

I download xscreensaver-4.15.rpm package and tried to install it. But there's an error:

error: Failed dependencies:
/usr/bin/perl5 is needed by xscreensaver-4.15-1

PS: where do you get the package ?

If you don't have perl5 in your /usr/bin -> Look to see then you need to install this rpm http://rpmfind.rediris.es/rpm2html/perl.html look for the one for Red Hat 9.

That was the version i586, I thought I need i686, so I downloaded it and intall, but there're other errors:

error: Failed dependencies:
control-center2 is needed by xscreensaver-4.15-3suse90
freetype2 is needed by xscreensaver-4.15-3suse90
XFree86-Mesa is needed by xscreensaver-4.15-3suse90

Do a search for each of these packages on google. That's how I find them. You can use i586 or i686, it doesn't matter. Sometimes there are no rpms for i686.
