xsane win32 agfa 1236s
 

Hello, i have setup my agfa 1236s snapscan on p166, 64mb ram, raid 1 scsi drives.


I am using xsane win32 from win2k, i can connect and scan ok, great i thought, however the quality of scans is poor compared to when i had the scanner directly connected to my win2k box.


The scans alway seem unclear, sort a white frosting to them, i have tried playing with settings in xsane but the quality is still poor.


any ideas?

Are you using windows version of xsane on a linux box? I don't see a point doing so. Or am I missing something? Clarify, please.
And I assume you are using snapscan backend for sane, is this correct? http://snapscan.sourceforge.net/
P.S. If this is a windows box that's acting weird with xsane you are in the wrong place, this is linux forums. :)

:) no i using xsane win32 on win2k, the scanner is on a networked RH 7.3 box.

SANE enables network acces to scanners which is why i have it setup like this.

It is not that things are acting weired, it just the quality of scans from the scanner that is networked on the Linux box, hence the question here, thought it might be something to do with setup of scanner on the linux box.

Seems snapscan is part of SANE, i will check what version of snapscan is in the latest version of SANE, and update if needed.

What I would do is try to do a scan from the Linux machine and see how it outputs. That way you can tell on what end your having the problem.
