XOrg Memory Leak - OpenSuse 11.4 64bit
Hello to all.
Got memory leak on OpenSuse 11.4 64 bit version.
Here is an output for 5 days of standard usage:
XOrg: 29436K / 75625K / 241952K / 313420K / 371412K
Plasma desktop: 29788K / 81688K / 88208K / 89252K /93828K
Kwin: 31188K / 36984K / 37708K /50812K / 58028K
Even if I do nothing allocated memory gets bigger.
I'm using NVidia drivers provided via Yast repositories.
Anyone has hint or solution? When I logout or restart system memory usage drops, but after 3 - 4 days it gets too slow to work with, even with 8GB RAM on 6 core CPU.
These processes listed, after 3 days, are the top memory consumers.
Thank you for any hint or answer, and thanks to designator for hint about this new thread.

You should always open a new thread for your own question...especially after you've posted in a thread that's been closed for THREE YEARS.
First thing I'd suggest would be to use the nVidia drivers from the nVidia website, and see if that makes a difference. I'd also try to make sure you log out each day.

Confirming Xorg memory leak
I can confirm the memory leak in Xorg on openSUSE 10.4 64-bit with the proprietary NVidia drivers in use. My system is a HP Z600 workstation (Xeon machine) with 6GB of RAM. After a few days the machine becomes unusably slow and an Xorg restart or sometimes even a reboot is necessary.
As for any thought on a solution, or even where to start looking ... none yet.

Xorg using 1.2 GB
I'm still faced with this issue from day to day and thought I'd post a small update. My current Xorg memory usage (via top):
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
2185 root 20 0 1301m 1.2g 18m S 3 31.6 18:38.72 Xorg

4983 user 20 0 532m 37m 23m S 1 1.0 1:05.63 dolphin
Yes, that's 1.2 GB going to Xorg.
I still have no idea why and I'm currently looking into ways to start diagnosing the problem.
