Xorg - (EE) Failed to load module "i810"....

Hi,

Configuring X I get (EE) Failed to load module "i810" (once-only module, -1073747292).

X starts up with the grey/whitye paetterned backgoround but without the twm windows. The mouse moves round the screen OK. This running at as real Root.

Running startx as user x starts but only with a black screen & the mouse quickly locks.

xorg-x11 6.7.0 (formerly XFree)

Graphics are driven by the Intel 852GM chipset which doesn't have its own RAM, instead it "steals" 16Mb from the main RAM, so you actually have 240Mb of RAM. One essential thing you'll want is DRI support for graphics acceleration, which requires some kernel stuff as well as the right lines in my xorg.conf (formerly XF86Config). Presently xorg-x11 6.7.0 is pretty much the same as XFree 4.4, so if you still use that you can rename the file to XF86Config or XF86Config-4 depending on your setup.

The i810 driver comes from intel chipsets. Usually they don't have to many issues as long as you run xorgconfig or xf86config and select the i810 driver. If that does not work I think that chipset also supports the vesa driver as well.

I used that driver for a long time and it worked pretty good. The fact that it's integrated as frogboy has implicated makes it very annoying. Mine use to steal as much as 64 megs of available ram so I switched to another card and disabled the intel integrated one.
