Xnest help anyone?

Hello Penguins, I've been trying to use Xnest. I can get it up and running, easy enough. But when it comes to running apps on the new server I run into a wall. I've tried all kinds of options. At the most simplest level of attempted use, this is what I try to do.

Xnest :1

>xterm -display :1
Xlib: connection to ":1.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

/usr/X11R6/bin/xterm.real Xt error: Can't open display: :1

What does this mean? I know it has to be a simple thing. Any help would be way cool. Thank you, bests- cg

The easiest solution (though perhaps not the most secure) is to disable authorization control:

Xnest -ac :1&

That should do it.
