xmule,wxwindows,gtk...install?

I'm trying to install xmule for mandrake 9.1 and I am trying to figure out if I need to install these three components in a certain directory for them to find each other? I tried previously and ended up getting gtk 2.4.1 (I think that's the version) installed and wxwindows seemed to install correctly, but when I tried the xmule install, it was unable to complete because it couldn't find "wx-config." This is supposed to be done by the wxwindows install but the only think resembling "wx-config" was "wx-config@" which turned out to be a link to a gtk variant of wx-config. I just did a complete reinstall of my OS because I made a mess I couldn't straighten out trying to fix this problem. If someone could provide me with instructions as to how to get it right this time, it would be much appreciated.

Easiest thing I did was to do urpmi lmule ... it automatically downloaded xmule 1.6.0 and wxGTK 2.4.0 instead of that benightedly buggy 2.4.1. So now it works fine ... if only I could figure out how to send ed2k links then I could get rid of ze hated windoze!

I'm sorry for being such a newb, but could you explain that urpmi lmule thing you just posted...sounds a lot simpler than what I'm doing?

No worries mate ... I am probably a bigger newbie than you are ... I just bug ppl a lot until someone gives me the answer

Mandrake has something called urpmi ... its a command line tool that lets mandrake automatically go out ... search for rpm you want ... find its dependancies ... download and finally install.

rpmdrake is a front end gui (the add / replace software in the mandrake control center). You just have to add more sources ... one good place to do this from is http://plf.zarb.org/ which actually does lossa good things for you.

Once you have it installed would you mind telling me how the freaking ed2k links work?

ed2k

I haven't been able to figure out the ed2k links either...I thought I enabled them, but I never see one available...I don't know exactly what's up with that either....I'll try a net search or something and see if I can find something
