xmodmap help

I was wondering if there was a way to map a key to a sequence of keys. I have a G11 keyboard, and what I want to do is map G1-G18 as something like shift + key (random key, doesn't matter) or ctrl + key. The reason I want to do this is because I play world of warcraft through cedega, but the G1-G18 keys don't work. I figure if I could, for example, bing G1 to ctrl+1, in world of warcraft I could bind a button to ctrl+1 and then simply hit G1 to activate that button.

For reference, G1 is mapped as XF86Launch1 using "keycode 177 = XF86Launch1". What I was trying to do is something like "keysym XF86Launch1 = Control_L 1" but all that does it make G1 act like the shift key, and ignores the 1 completely. Basically anything that could possibly get my keys to work in wow, no matter how far I got remapping, I am game to try. Using control and a key seemed to be the easiest answer to me, but I have a feeling that doesn't work :-\
