Question XMMS stops playing.

I just installed XMMS a couple of nights ago on my freshly installed Slackware 11.0, and I've noticed something strange. The program will stop playing if the rest of the OS is heavily accessing the hard disk. I works fine when its idle, but when I do a simple command like 'find /usr | grep program' it suddenly stops. It's becoming quite annoying. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks to any replies.
