I upgraded to XMMS 1.2.8 and can't seem to get MP3 or WAV files to play. Audio CDs play fine, but anything from a file won't play or even load the time for the track. Any help is appreciated.
That rpm clash with the 1.2.8 rpm. Also, it does not seem as though it is just XMMS. No program in KDE appears to be able to play sound files, outside of audio CDs.
helo all. i can't play my mp3 files on redhat 9. this os say that mp3 support for redhat was disable.
can anybody tell me how to resolve this problem......
Ok, I think I have the problem narrowed down. All of my system sounds and audio CDs play. However, if I try to play a sound file (such as wav or mp3) nothing plays. In the KDE embedded media player I get the error "aRts could ont load this file." I believe it may be due to package version dependencies (I have been messing a lot with package versions in trying to solve this problem) or to my kdemultimedia package, as I tried to rebuild it using this tutorial (http://www.csparks.com/xml/redhat9Unhoarked.xml), though it failed in building. Thanks for any help.
