xmms problem, can't add files to it

I can't even add songs to my xmms list, not even mention about playing 'em
I made sure I got the latest xmms with all the right dependencies, all my sound files (mp3) are -rwxrwxrwx

Don't know why, need help

First of all, mp3s should not have the executable bit set: 'x', they only need read permission to play them.

Second...you need to describe your problem better. How is xmms failing? Error messages? How are you trying to load files?
