xmms problem
Code:
[joe@joesbox joe]$ xmms can some one tell me what this means. |
What kind of soundcard are you using? Might need the xmms-alsa package.
rpm -e xmms-alsa What is your output of this: rpm -qa | grep "xmms" |

you are the man. that command worked. could you tell me why? i used this driver with MDK 9 before and i didn't have to reboot the first time but for practice i reformated and reinstalled everything and got everything to where i wanted it (this time in only a few hours. i swear this linux keeps getting easier and easier) well i tried out the sound and well i had to reboot. got it to work this time after the boot but then xmms still gave me the error above. so i uninstalled and reinstalled the latest from sourceforge. couldn't get it to "make" so in an attempt to not stress i just went back to the rpm that is on the install disc. (btw it is the latest xmms version) when i re-installed xmms shouldn't it have executed the alsa package?? why did i have to do that?? |
From my understanding Mandrake just doesn't install it by default which in most cases its needed to work with particular sound cards.
Glad that worked for you though. |
