XMMS plugins...

Hi,

I am looking for XMMS plugin to play .ram files(real format). Is there one ??

And also, last time, I installed Real Player 8, it completely messed up my system, so is there a solution without installing real player ??

Another solution could be ram to mp3 converters, so if anyone knows of any such, do reply.

Also, if you know of other add-on plugins for XMMS, which could make it more comfortable, compatible, cool, etc. then do post them in this thread.

Regards,
unpredictable.

Hi.

I don't think there is a Real plugin for xmms (I could be wrong though). Xine and MPlayer can both use windows codecs (including Real and QuickTime), so you might want to try one of those.

i dont think .ram files can be played by Xine and MPlayer ..

But they can play .rm files..

Mplayer is playing .ram also for me....
but for audio, i generally use XMMS, besides, Kaffeine (i.e. Xine) failed to play those.

And I heard about such a plugin, and googling gives a lot of results, but its difficult to comprehend them. Besides, some include installing Real Player also.

Anyway, any converters available ??

You could use the wav file output option in MPlayer (or Xine) to convert the .rm files to wav.

Hi,

I installed Real Player 10 from www.real.com

But the plugin, rmxmms does not seem compatible with Real Player 10. Could you find an alternative. Real Player wont do because it requires me to shut down the aRts server, which blocks all sounds from other applications.

rmxmms required me to find out rmacore.so.6.0 which was not there when I did updatedb and then locate.

(Well this time its a RPM for Real Player, so I trusted it, as for removal I just need rpm -e)

Found out the best solution :D

Here is a plugin for XMMS to connect it to Mplayer. Now along with .ram and .rm its playing .mpg .avi also, i.e. I can see videos in XMMS. Cool right ??

Just install this. Real Player 10 is being kicked out. :)
