Hello!
I'm using Knoppix (Debian-based LiveCD distro) at work, out of a preference for using Linux over Windows but not wanting to screw up the boss's computers with an install...
I just got an iPod, and I've managed to get it to mount on /dev/sda2 and work as an external hard drive. I've even created a /bin directory on it, and added it to my $PATH in my .bashrc. And I can play mp3 files off of it, too.
The thingie of it is, I can't play .m4a files, and I'd like to. I know that this is theoretically possible through xmms with the right plugins. (I know I won't be able to play my encrypted .m4p files, but that's OK, I don't have that many of them anyway.)
I've been researching this matter, and found information in an old LinuxQuestions thread and on some other pages, but since this is my first post I can't give their URLs.
The thing is, I gather that these plugins require the installation of a libfaad library to work. And while I know how to set my binary path to point at /bin on my iPod drive, I have no idea how to set it to look for library files there too.
I'd really appreciate some advice.
