XMMS/KDE Bugfix: How do you apply the fix?
There's a bug in KDE which prevents the playlist/equalizer windows in XMMS from minimizing when the main window is minimized. I tracked down the bug report on KDE's website, and its apparently been fixed, but I don't know how to apply the fix. There are two entries related to this bug:

Fix #66868.

I downloaded both files, and they both had the name "client.cpp". According the the patch man page, I'm supposed to know the filename to which the patch is to be applied, but it doesn't say anywhere in the report what the file is called. According to the bug report, the problem is with kwin, and a search for files with "client" returned "/usr/include/kde/kwin/client.h". Is this the file that the patch is supposed to be applied to? Do you apply the backport or the fix, or both?

- Thanks

Patches are usually applied to the source code. After that, the program has to be built again from the sources. You could try to get a development version of KDE and buid it but this can be rather difficult and may not work. However, the latest stable version of KDE has been released recently and should have the problem fixed. Alternatively, if updating KDE seems too big an undertaking, you could just install an old version of XMMS (1.2.8) as suggested in the bug report discussion.
