XMMS freezes while streaming audio

XMMS seems to freeze up when it tries to stream audio, if the server it is trying to connect to is down. Is there some setting that fixes this?

XMMS 1.2.10

I have the same problem, but eventually the connection attempt should timeout and XMMS should respond again. It takes a while to timeout.

I wonder if there is a way to change the length of the connection timeout. I went to Options ==> Preferences ==> MPEG Layer ==> Configure ==> Streaming, but none of these options presented a solution.
