XMMS doesn't work

I have XMMS 1.2.7 (came with RH8.0)
When I push the play button, a dlg pops up entitle "Load file(s)"
I select a song or songs (mp3) and click OK.
Nothing happens.
I push the play button, and dlg box pops up again...ad inifinitum.
What's the deal?
