Xmms: Couldn't Open Audio

MP3's play perfectly fine in XMMS until I seek through the song. The MP3's will go from song to song, all the way through the playlist without a problem, but if I try to seek through the track from say, 0:30 to 1:45, I will get an error message:

Couldn't Open Audio
Please Check:
1. You have the correct output plugin selected
2. No other programs is blocking the soundcard
3. Your sound card is configured properly

Xmms locks up and I have to kill the program because it stops responding and then I can't even re-open xmms.

Although, I can still play audio CDs (through another audio program) even after XMMS crashed and told me I have audio problems. I can seek through all the tracks on an audio CD in XMMS and other programs without a problem before and after I get this error.

I saw several posts regarding this issue, but I could not find one that directly addressed the track seeking issue I am experiencing. If it has already been addressed, sorry. If it has not, any suggestions?

You might be using the wrong output plugin.

Right click on XMMS, go to Options and then click on Preferences. Click on the Audio I/O Plugins tab, and try out the different output plugins. See if any of them fix the problem. If you don't have any other output plugins, go to xmms.org and download some.

1. There was nothing wrong with the installation.
2. I went through a couple different output drivers. Most of them froze the application and I had to kill it. Although, I came accross aRts 0.6.0 Output Driver (libarts.so) and it seems to have taken care of the seek glitch.

I didn't think it was the output driver because I had tried a couple different ones without success, so I assumed it was something else.

Thanks for help!
