well, thanks for that, but its not what I'm looking for..
I *can* play mp3 files (I have mpg123.rpm installed) I just cant play winamp-made playlist. My whole mp3 collection have winamp playlists, and they are useless now.. |
You have installed the mp3 plugin for xmms and it still doesn't work?
|
the problem isnt with mp3 files / mp3 support..
i CAN play mp3 files.. but i cant use my old winamp made playlists (.m3u) probably because xmms needs to have 'dot' before filenames --- winamp playlist: (located in mp3 directory) debaser.mp3 tame.mp3 xmms playlist: .debaser.mp3 .tame.mp3 -- so anytime I try to load winamp playlist, xmms just shut down.. |
I do not mean to thread jack, but I have a problem with XMMS and mp3s. I have a RH9 box using VT8233 AC97 Audio Controller. The module loaded is via82cxxx_audio. I know the card and the module are working, because redhat-config-soundcard plays the sample sound fine. I have also installed XMMS-1.2.7-21.p, XMMS-skins-1.2.7-21.p, and XMMS-mpg123-1.2.7-21. I know they are all registered because an "rpm -qa | grep xmms" shows these packages installed. Now when I launch XMMS it seems fine, but when I try to play an mp3 it tries to play it, and does nothing but lock up. The levels move once and then stops. I then have to kill XMMS by PID!! Anyone seen this before?

Does anyone else have this problem?
|
Never mind I figured out the problem. I was using the ess audio plugin. I switched to the oss 1.2.7 sound module, and it works fine now. I would like to add that I love the fact that I have my windows servers RAID where my mp3s are mounted, and the playlists stored there work fine through the samba share.
