XMMS and Status Docklet (systray icon in Gnome)

I installed the Status Docklet for XMMS (http://www.hellion.org.uk/xmms-status-plugin/). It allows you to have an xmms icon in the notification area under Gnome, control the playing, etc. It works fine, but there's something I can't make it do, and that is take the xmms away from the window list in the toolbar. I mean, the whole point of using a status docklet is to liberate some space in my toolbar... and it's not happening.
Has anybody else used it?

I'm running XMMS 1.2.10, FC1 (FC2 is not an option at the moment).

Cheers,
Ricky

What i do is put XMMS on my 6th virtual desktop, and work on my first. Then again, I have KDE set up to show buttons only from the desktop shown.
