xmms and red hat 9

seem to have a problem with red hat 9-xmms mp3 support-

i installed red hat 9
installed this file-xmms-mpg123-1.2.7-21.i386.rpm

it plays for awhile , and later when i open the music file, nothing happens. i type xmms in a terminal- i get this message-segmentation fault.

should i be getting my files from gurulabs, this is what i am now thinking.

hmmm...well a segmentation fault basically means the program crashed hard. Do you have the latest version of xmms?

i went back to red hat 7.3, at least after i install , you will hear music during the boot, and xmms will start playing.
