XMMS and OSS

XMMS 1.2.7
OSS Driver 1.2.7 (libOSS.so)

Question: What's the difference between this OSS driver in XMMS and the driver found at www.opensound.com? Does it really come with XMMS?

The plugin (not a driver) with XMMS is just so that it can output your sound through OSS if you have it installed. It also comes with ALSA and aRts plugins if you want to output your sound to those instead.

xmms doesn't work

I have a fresh install of redhat 9 updated and working fine....except...the xmms player opens but then does nothing.

I click on play and the URL blinks on and off but does not play....

If I go to smoothjazz.com and click to play....xmms opens but then does nothing...

If I open Streamtuner and click a radio station....xmms opens but then does nothing...

I've tried it as root as well....nothing....sound is working fine on other programs

The FAQ's at xmms.org don't seem to cover this problem

Thanks for any assistance

Rob

Re: xmms doesn't work

Found the solution...

Install the "forbidden" MP3 plugin then change the output plugin from aRts to OSS...

xmms works fine now
