BTW: are there better players then XMMS? I'm looking for players who can handle ogg, mp3 and flac, but the most important thing is the audio quality
I don't care about the gui
That is kinda strange... Did you say that when you resume play it seems to continue but no sound or it does not un-pause. I would check the output driver and it even may be a skin issue try another skin...
For other players My first choice "Mplayer" of course I use xmms, kaffeine, Xine and others but mplayer handles all my needs from one application.
but i really want to use XMMS, because i use very different formats: mp3, ogg, flac, ...
I have mplayer already but didnt find an equalizer and i think it cant play flac?
Originally posted by TranceDude the player just does not resume (no reaction in the GUI and no sound of course)
it's realy strange, i like XMMS but this is annoying
any ideas? (i used the latest tarball)
OK so it seems like it's not a sound issue, have you tried using the menu (right click >> Playback >> Pause "C") or using the keyboard command "C" for pause... This will narrow it done at least...
Am not aware of any such bugs like this but it may be...
I had the same problem, I eventually found out that if you (assuming your using the alsa output plugin click on configure in the Output plugin box in preferences the click advanced settings and toggle 'Mmap mode", can't remember if I enabled it or disbaled it, I just changed its state and that fixed it.
What caused my problem was switching to the alsa output plugin from the OSS when I configured software sound mixing
