strange, everything apart from .wmv-files cannot be played now - a clear step backwards... kaffeine shows then "kaboodle" in the program line, but no picture. trying to simply do this thing with the software from bremen again wouldn't work for a reason i cannot name...

btw, already used the "thanks" button as you may have noticed...

regards

Hello ungua!(Guten Tag!)
Once again this is the best way to make your Multimedia play even a kitchen sink!
just follow this:
1. Remove all video players.
2. Update with YOU. All you need are Multimedia Packs. Grab all of them; won't hurt.
3. After successful update fresh-install Xine and Kaffeine from Guru RPM site.
4. Logout.
5. Login
6. ENJOY

uff... i found out that "kaboodle" is invisible as program or file on my computer, but when i open kaffeine and then open a video-file, things work. i think, i choose the lazy way, feels as if i have struggled with this... stuff for a too long time already... but many thanks for your help!!

just for the protocol: now everything works - i didn't do anything... just adds to my understand of linux as rather mystical...

ungua

edit: is the message "mms is no registered protocol" somehow connect to this issue?

No, nothing mystical. Perhaps all that needed was reboot. Sometimes it really solves the issues after numerous installs
