I'm using Evolution 2.0.0 with KDE desktop version 3.2.3 in Mandrake 10.1 Community Edition.
I have set two accounts for my e-mail addresses. Sporadically, I receive a message saying something like unable to contact pop3 address (specifically, pop.mail.yahoo.ca). It's kind like the pop server is not reachable or that something in Evolution cuts too quickly the connection? I dont know. Since this message appears several times per day, it is kind of annoying. I have to fetch the e-mails manually by clicking the button send/receive, which most of the time works, but this is not the way the job is supposed to be done.
QUestions
1.- Is there a way to set Evolution on the time allowed to establish communication with the POP server? perhaps the default time is too short?
2. I have a third e-mail account in GMAIL (google), but Evolution was never able to connect to the gmail servers (both POP and SMTP). It looks like ports required to comunicate (port 995 for POP and port 587 or 465 for SMTP) are not opened in my computer. How can I open these ports?
If I type:
# nmap -sT -O localhost
Starting nmap 3.55 (
http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2005-09-03 11:36 EDT
