xhost and X access

Hi,,,,, I am trying to connect to conenct to the X server running in a suse box.. The problem is that after the command X -query suse-host-ip ... a gray screen appears (the X server first screen) but nothing else after that... What should i do to see the suse's xdm manager?
Thx
