XFre86 default resolution

I'm sorry if this has been asked several times, but I couldn't seem to find any answer in searches.

Right now I have the X server configued to use only 800x600 res. I would like to set up additional resolutions, but if I add any resolutins greater than 800x600 (1024x768 for axample) then X will always default to 800x600 when it starts up but using a virtual desktop in 1024x768 even if I have virtual desktops disabled forcing me to have to set it mannually to 1024x768, which I don't even want to use, except for games

Is there any way to make X default to 800x600 on startup, even with higher resolutions available?

And before anyone asks, I use 800x600 because anything higher on my desktop makes things too hard to see.

To change your resolutions, as root, open the XF86Config-4 file and add your resolutions to in front of the existing ones. Restart X and you will have a larger choice.

Add in the file /etc/XF86Config-4 the resolutions "1024x768" in the section where you can see the resolution "800x600". I have the same problem some time ago and I resolve it in this way. Bye.

If I add 1024xz768, then switch manually to 800x600 it still does a virtual desktop of 1024x768
