xfce4 ruined kde

Hello!

I just installed xfce4 (with Debain's packages). It loads fine, but when I tried to run kde with startkde, it fails to load.

I get a whole bunch of errors:

Code:
xsetroot: unable to open display ''
xset: unable to open display ""
xsetroot: unable to open display ''
startkde: Starting up...
startkde: running kpersonalizer
kwin: cannot connect to X server
kpersonalizer: cannot connect to X server
kpersonalizer: cannot connect to X server
kpersonalizer: cannot connect to X server
(a then it just goes into an endless loop)
Thank you for your help,
Murdock

Okay, I think I solved the issue, at least sort of.

I did not have a personal .xinitrc file, so startx defaults to xfce4. I put a .xinitrc file into my directory with startkde line and it loads.
