xfce4 on gentoo

Sometime ago I emerged xfce4.2 and some extra's.

First thing I noticed was that it was possible to give functions to keys from within xfce4.2, too bad that only very few keys are recognized. For example, the internet key works but the e-mail multimedia-key doesn't work. I therefore installed xbindkeys but I must have added it to more than 3 init scripts but it doesn't startup! I use gentoo and gdm. Any ideas on where to add xbindkeys& (or does it have to be xbindkeys & )?

Next problem. When xfce4 starts up it opens a console on the last desktop which is not what I want. Again I can't find anything in any scripts that could be responsible for opening a console...

Anybody experiencing the same problem? Any solutions? Thanx in advance!

<edit>

Ok, so adding symlinks to ~Desktop/Autostart/ works (eventhough I don't like the solution) still stuck with a console on startup though! Strangely, xfcalendar also doen't work.
