xfce4 4.3.90.2 exo error

Trying to install the new beta version of xfce.
I have the following error in the error log and can't find any information on how to fix.

Code:
checking for perl5... no
checking for perl... perl
checking for perl module URI::Escape... no
checking for perl module URI::file... no
checking for perl module URI::URL... no
configure: error: Atleast one of the required Perl modules (URI::Escape, URI::file and URI::URL) was not found on your system
!! Failed to configure exo, see the errors above
!! for details on the problem.
I'm running slackware 10.2 using the testing kernel that I recompiled with SMP support. I have the following slackware package installed perl-5.8.8-i486-1.tgz.

Hmm... Rather than trusting someone else's package, I just recently used cpan2tgz by Jason Woodward (who is one of the main developers for Freerock Gnome) for the same thing. It's quite nice, and very fast (faster than using CPAN directly). I will be using it from now on for all Perl modules.
